The theoretical aspect of art draws Rashmi”s attention to research. Her quest for knowledge has made her delve more into classical dance literature. A sensitive artist and performer, Rashmi assimilates and bridges the gap between theory and practical applications through the language of dance. Apart from being a freelance writer in journals like Ananya Kalasinchana & Nartaki, she also has the credit of publishing research-based articles in leading research journals. Her articles are also a part of many ISSN & ISBN publications. A Doctoral student pursuing research in the field of dance, it’s her sincere desire to delve into this divine art form and propagate its pristine beauty.
Being a technical student and a dancer, Rashmi was always fascinated facing the lights on stage. The magic created by the lights triggered her to study more on these lines. The curiosity culminated into her research journey (M.Phil & Ph.D) where she worked under reputed light designers to understand the entire gamut of stage lighting for Indian Classical Dance. The end product of this journey is her well written thesis which will serve as a handbook for all the aspiring dancers and budding designers.
Though she doesn't want to call herself as a designer yet, she designs and manages lights for her own dance productions and for other reputed classical artists too. In this 5 year research journey she has designed the lights for about six dance productions independently and as an assistant for more than 10 dance presentations/productions.
She believes it is due to her experience as a performer , choreographer and researcher that has immensely helped her to have an artistic and aesthetic vision while designing lights which is the key to her success in the field of lights.
Rashmi is also exploring & experimenting the techniques in her dance institute along with her students.
Some of her own productions includes:
* Dashavatara
* Karunada Siri
* Tarang – the Nrityataranga of Indian Classical dances”
* Ninada Krishna
With an intention to promote art, Rashmi organises "Naada", the annual classical dance and music festival for the students of Nritya Sinchana. This platform not just provides an opportunity to perform but inturn refines the student in the form and also makes them confident.
"Navaratri Navollasa", is a nine day festival organised every year since 2017 during the auspicious time of Navaratri. Rashmi invites reputed artists to this platform to pay their artistic offerings to the Devi.
